Sustainable Development Goals
Climate Action and Zero Hunger
P.S. Janaki Krishna‚ Ch. Lakshmi Kumari‚ R.K. Mishra
About the Book

It is clear that the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals were adopted by world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly on 25 September 2015. However, euphoria has spread in rolling out these typically large number of goals as each goal has specific targets (there are 169 in all) that are to be achieved by 2030. In this context, ‘climate action’ and ‘zero hunger’ have been looked upon as enablers in meeting these goals among many others.

The book covers the contributions made in attaining SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 2: Zero Hunger. The papers on SDG 13 covered wide array of topics on biodiversity, spatial and temporal variation of rainfall, water scarcity and livelihood, environmental sustainability practices, green accounting, Indian ocean rim warming , etc. While dealing with SDG 2, the papers dealt with evolvement of transgenic rice, shelf life improvement of minor millets, livestock improvement and climate change, quality improvement of oats. The papers, written by highly acclaimed authors in their own areas of research, aid in the nations’ efforts in complying with the issues of meeting these two SDGs by 2030.

Practicing environmental managers, engineers, scientists, academicians and policy makers, research scholars, students and government officials will immensely benefit from the contributions made in this book. This volume will certainly add to the collection on the works in the area of SDGs.
