<p>This book is about the future of Afghanistan which seems to be rapidly slipping into chaos. It contains perspectives on counter-insurgency and nation-building in Afghanistan. The expert contributors in this book focus on some key issues like, the character of the conflict in Afghanistan; the role of regional actors; the nature of engagement of the US and its allies; the assessment of the future course of action by major actors and the role played by INGOs and the international community at large.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>More significantly, the experts sought to answer the crucial question: what can be done to stabilise Afghanistan? <p><strong>V. Krishnappa</strong> is a Research Fellow at the IDSA, New Delhi. His research interests include strategic dynamics in South and West Asia, great power politics, strategic theory, transnational terrorism and contemporary wars. He is the Book Review Editor of the Strategic Analysis (IDSA-Routledge) and Member of Editorial Committee of Journal of Defence Studies (IDSA).</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Shanthie Mariet D’Souza</strong> is Associate Fellow at the IDSA, New Delhi. Her research interests and expertise includes United States policy towards Afghanistan, terrorism and strategies in counter-terrorism, non-state armed groups and armed conflicts in South Asia, global war on terrorism, Afghan insurgency and the counter-insurgency campaign.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><strong>Priyanka Singh</strong> is a Research Assistant in the IDSA, New Delhi.
