Banking sector plays a dominant role in building the economy of a nation. It is necessary for growth, generation of wealth, creation of jobs, eradication of poverty and increasing the gross domestic product. R.K. Mishra, ONGC Subir Raha Chair Professor on Corporate Governance, Sr Professor and Director, Institute of Public Enteprises (IPE), Hyderabad, did his PhD from University of Rajasthan. A Visiting Fellow at London Business School (UK), he also studied for International Teachers programme at SDA Bocconi, Milan. Dr Mishra has taught at the University of Bradford and was a Visiting Professor at Maison Des Sciences De L’ Hommes, Paris and Faculty of Economics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. He is a member of the UN Task Force on International Standards of Excellence in Public Administration and Education. He is special invite on OECD Working Group on Privatisation and Corporate Governance of SOEs and Asian Network of Corporate Governance. His areas of interest include: corporate governance, international management, international finance, public-private partnership, and restructuring and environmental administration.
S. Sreenivasa Murthy, Dean and Head, Placements Division, IPE, Hyderabad, obtained his PhD from University of Madras in the area of finance. He has more than two decades of experience in teaching, training, research and consultancy. He has authored six books and many course materials, and has published a number of articles in reputed national and international journals. He has done consultancy assignments for World Bank, ADB, many central and state-level enterprises. He has conducted number of management development programmes and organised a number of seminars and workshops in the area of finance. He is the Managing Editor of IPE’s Journal of Managerial Finance and Research. His areas of interest include: corporate finance, financial services, project financing, etc.
J. Kiranmai is currently Assistant Professor in the areas of accounting and finance at IPE, Hyderabad. She is Coordinator, Post Graduate Diploma in Banking Insurance and Financial Services. She holds MPhil in management and MCom with specialisation in banking. She has undertaken many research and consultancy assignments apart from organising management development programmes at the institute. She has attended and presented research papers in national and international seminars, and published in many national and international seminars.
