Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has gained prominence in the present context. It has been discussed as one of the strategic tools for the corporate sector to gain competitive advantage, at the same time contribute towards sustainable development. Discussion about companies’ responsibility to societal cause has grabbed more attention in the context of the Companies Act 2013, which has made CSR mandatory for Indian corporate.

This book is an attempt to discuss the CSR scenario of India and provides an understanding of challenges associated with implementation of CSR. The volume presents 21st century best practices, and the dynamics of CSR for practitioners, academicians, and researchers. It is a sincere attempt to guide practitioners in the area of CSR and help them to rethink about their CSR practices and its implementation.

R.K. Mishra, ONGC Subir Raha Chair Professor on Corporate Governance, Senior Professor and Director, Institute of Public Enterprise (IPE), Hyderabad, did his PhD from University of Rajasthan. A Visiting Fellow at London Business School (UK), he also studied for International Teachers programme at SDA Bocconi, Milan. He has considerable experience of teaching and guiding research for doctoral degree in management, economics, public administration and commerce. His areas of interest include: corporate governance, international management, international finance, public-private partnership, and restructuring and environmental administration.  

 

Punam Singh, Assistant Professor, School of Management Studies, University of Hyderabad, is a Management graduate from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad. Her area of research includes: CSR (corporate social responsibility), baseline studies, impact assessment studies and environmental management. She has published books and papers in the area of CSR.  

 

Shulagna Sarkar, Assistant Professor, IPE, Hyderabad, is a law graduate with a PhD in HRM. Certified trainer in the area of CSR, she has worked extensively in the areas of CSR, baseline surveys, impact assessment and Green HRM in India. Her areas of interest include: CSR, Green HRM, and environmental competencies.
