The volume on macro premise deals with the broader themes like macro policy changes, WTO, tariff policy, institutional issues, minimum support prices etc., whereas, the volume on micro issues addresses the problems confronted by each of the participating states at the regional level.

S.M. Jharwal is currently, Principal Adviser, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. After having taught Economics in a college of the University of Rajasthan, he joined the Indian Economic Service. He has served in eight Ministries/Departments and dealt with policies and programmes relating to some of the most crucial sectors of the economy. He has travelled widely, not only outside India but has visited about 250 districts in the country, particularly for assessing crop conditions in India and to enforce the public distribution system.


R.S. Deshpande is a professor at ADRT Centre of Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore. He has served on various policy bodies of the Government of India and the Government of Karnataka. He has authored several books on various aspects of India’s agriculture.

 

Vijay Paul Sharma is Chairman of the Centre for Management in Agriculture, Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. His research interests are: trade policy issues including the WTO, domestic market reforms and dairy economics. He has published quite a few books and over 100 articles. He has been consultant to several national and international organisations.

 

R.P.S. Malik is a senior faculty member with the Agricultural Economics Research Centre, University of Delhi, Delhi. He has more than three decades of research experience of working on various issues in agricultural and resource economics and has published extensively, including three books.

 

Brajesh Jha is Associate Professor in the Agricultural Economics Unit of Institute of Economic Growth, New Delhi. Having worked on diverse aspects of agriculture and rural economy, he has authored a book and over two dozen research papers in professional journals/edited volumes.

 

S.A. Ansari is a professor at the University of Allahabad since 1998. In 2002, he was appointed Honorary Director, Agro-Economic Research Centre at the University of Allahabad. He has published about 40 research papers and articles on different aspects of the Indian economy in some of the leading journals.
